Apr 23, Colombo: The United States has warned American citizens traveling to Sri Lanka to exercise increased caution due to possible terrorist attacks following Easter Sunday bomb attacks on churches and five -star hotels in Colombo.A Level-2 Travel Advisory, issued by the State Department said “Terrorist groups continue plotting possible attacks in Sri Lanka. Terrorists may attack with little or no warning, targeting tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls, local government facilities, hotels, clubs, restaurants, places of worship, parks, major sporting and cultural events, educational institutions, airports, and other public areas.”The advisory instructed the travelers to Sri Lanka to be aware of their surroundings when traveling to tourist locations and crowded public venue, follow the instructions of local authorities, and monitor local media for breaking events and adjust their plans based on new information.
