ISLAMABAD: US Special Envoy for Afghan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, South, and Central Asia, Alice G. Wells will arrive in Islamabad today.

According to Foreign Office spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Faisal, They will hold meetings with Pakistani authorities as part of regular consultations on the bilateral relationship and Afghan peace process.
“US Special Rep for Afgan Reconciliation Amb Khalilzad and Principle Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, South, and Central Asia, Amb Wells arrive in Islamabad, Monday to hold meetings – part of regular consultations, on bilateral relationship & Afghan peace process,” he had tweeted yesterday.
US State Department had earlier said Khalilzad will tour Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia and the United Kingdom between April 21 and May 11 as part of the ‘overall effort to facilitate a political settlement that ends the conflict in Afghanistan’.
Earlier, on April 26, the special envoy had praised Prime Minister Imran Khan’s policy statement on Afghanistan.
