LAHORE: Asma Aziz, the woman who was tortured by her husband, has expressed fear as her husband has been released on bail.
Aziz has requested for protection and said her husband has been giving her threats since his release.
Taking cognizance of the matter, spokesperson Punjab government Shahbaz Gill has advised Asma Aziz to submit an application in a nearby police station.
On March 26, Asma Aziz had come forward citing spousal abuse in a video message and alleged her husband of shaving her head, beating her naked with pipes, and threatening to strangle her when she refused to dance for her husband’s friends who were at their house in Lahore’s upmarket Defence Housing Authority (DHA) district.
The woman’s husband and house help were taken into custody after former minister of state for interior Shehryar Afridi ordered IGP Punjab to take action.
The husband of the tortured woman was released from the court on bail after brief detention.
