Navi Mumbai: A school in Navi Mumbai had a major scare on Monday after a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found in a concrete block in Kalamboli area of the city.
The Navi Mumbai Police were notified after the school watchman found the suspicious device laden with electric wires and a battery near the gates of New Sudhagad School.
The concrete block with around four electric wires were found connected to a 12-Volt battery along with an analog watch in a box by a team of bomb detection and disposal squad of the Navi Mumbai Police and a dog squad.
“We received information about an object that resembled a bomb which was spotted on a handcart in a school. We have disassembled it but haven’t been able to ascertain yet whether it contains explosives or cement,” Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner S Kumar said, according to news agency ANI.View image on Twitter

He added that the police force was seeking assistance from the Central Reserve Police Force to inspect the device and know of any threats.
An official related to the probe said that the investigating teams are trying to figure out the material found inside the concrete block, adding that if the bomb disposal squads find cement deep inside the cement block up to six inches, they will defuse it by blasting it.
