Russia disrupting Israeli GPS signals from military base or ship: Israeli officials

The Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv is still experiencing a GPS disruption, which Israeli officials believe is a result of the Russian military jamming their signals.

According to the Haaretz, the disruption of the Global Positioning System signals (GPS) within Israeli airspace could be a result of a Russian system based on a ship in the eastern Mediterranean or the Hmeimim (var. Khemeimim) Airbase in western Syria.

The Russian Ambassador to Israel to Israeli radio on Thursday that these claims are “fake news” and possess no merit.

Citing unnamed officials, the Haaretz reported that Israel is examining the possibility that the signal disruptions could have originated within their airspace.

If so, the person or entity responsible for the GPS disruption may not know that they are the responsible for the signal jamming.
