Civilians and firefighters injured as series of explosions rock Oktoberfest celebrations in Huntington Beach, California (VIDEO)

Ambulances and firefighters rushed to the scene of explosions at an Oktoberfest celebration in Huntingdon Beach, California. Four people, including two firefighters, were injured, the Fire Department has reported.

The blasts happened near a German restaurant in the Old World Village. Several witnesses said there were at least three explosions, posting videos of the follow-up blasts on Twitter.

The Huntington Beach Fire Department has stated that two civilians were initially injured while two firefighters investigating the incident were hurt in subsequent explosions. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

The cause of the blasts was an apparent electrical malfunction. Some patrons at the restaurant said lights switched on and off before the first explosion occurred. Firefighters were investigating the incident as a possible electrical fire when they were injured after opening an underground electrical vault, triggering another explosion
