TEL AVIV, (BM) – Israeli television released material reporting on the country’s prime minister’s initiative to modernize a missile defense system, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
This is a report published on the Kan-11 TV channel. Reporters reported that Netanyahu is lobbying for the modernization of the missile defense system. In total, the program will cost Israeli taxpayers “several billion shekels” (Kan-11 estimate). For reference: the shekel is currently trading at 18,65 rub.
From the report: “This will be one of Israel’s most expensive defense projects.”
The material noted that Netanyahu voiced his initiative during a meeting of the military-political council, which was held in the Tel Aviv-based complex “Kiriya”.
It is noted that by creating an updated missile defense system, Israel “will be able to defend itself against Iranian missiles.”
This statement itself leads to the question: does this mean that today Israeli complexes are not able to protect the country from the same Iranian missiles?
On the Kan-11 television channel, the opinions of a number of economists are given, which stated that if the project is implemented, they will have to cut some social programs and, possibly, raise taxes. This, as noted, will be handled by the new composition of the Israeli government, which has not yet been formed.
At the moment, there are no reports as to what exactly is being invested in the concept of “modernizing the Israeli missile defense system,” there is no data on whether Israel intends to do on its own or will purchase missile defense assets abroad.
