ISLAMABAD: Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud on Saturday made a telephone call to his Pakistani counterpart Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi to discuss matters of mutual interests, according to a Foreign Office press statement.
The two foreign ministers reaffirmed the strategic importance of the Pakistan-Saudi relations and reiterated their shared resolve to deepen bilateral cooperation in diverse fields.
Qureshi expressed his appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support to Pakistan over the Kashmir issue. He noted that the Kingdom had particularly done that as a key member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir.
The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on working together to advance the Kashmir cause, including from the OIC platform, the statement said.
Additionally, the ministers spoke about regional developments and agreed to remain in close contact.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have traditionally enjoyed cordial relations, and the two countries have strengthened them further after Prime Minister Imran Khan’s administration assumed the country’s political power in 2018.
There have been frequent exchanges of official visits between the two countries, as their top leaders try to broaden and deepen bilateral relations and make them more effective and meaningful.
