The military guarantees the valuable assets, strength, solidarity and sovereignty of any country. Social problems, corruption, ethnicity, polarization, religion & caste division in this institution means solidarity and Sovereignty of the country in danger. When it comes to our Indian Armed forces, it is suffering from all the aforesaid diseases like corruption, low caste oppression, hindering and restricting women to lead from the front in the armed forces, caste-based promotions and decisions, forcing their wives to commit wrongdoing by presenting them to superior officers and wives swapping. The deadliest and morale destructive element is the division of soldiers on religious, regional, caste and racial basis which never allows the Indian armed forces to become strengthen and powerful, apparently, it is morally destroyed and scattered by mind. Clear evidence of this phenomena is that several times smaller than Indian, but stronger Pakistani armed forces defeat it in all respects of warfare but Indian authorities continue to make lofty claims to fool the masses. A mentally, morally, religiously and racially disturbed / divided armed forces spending billions of rupees annually which is nothing but a burden on sinking Indian economy. In the prevailing scenario, instead of buying expensive and unnecessary war equipment while spending huge amount of money, we must take steps to improve the status of Indian people suffering from hunger and economic misery to guarantee the future. In order to show up Armed forces’s importance, it is forced to take artificial counter-terrorism and other events for false claims to take up place in the hearts of the Indians. Through these activities Indian Armed forces’s authorities find more opportunities for their wealth and wishes. Given the following matters, it will not be difficult to estimate how the Indian armed forces is less loyal and burden to the country.
India ranked the first in world’s most dangerous country for women, according to a poll of global experts in 2018. Being a woman in Indian armed forces is disgrace. One has to face gender discrimination and sexual harassment at all levels. According to 2019 figures, women comprise only 3.8% of the world’s second-largest armed forces.
In Jan 2020, India’s SC asked the government to lift the official ban on women in combat roles. Earlier this week, the government responded the top court that women were not fit to serve in ground combat roles. For one, male soldiers are not “yet mentally schooled to accept women officers in command”. Then there were the “challenges of Physical confinement, motherhood and childcare.” It shows that the Indian soldiers are so narrow-minded. This is not the first time; women have been demotivated by the senior officers in armed forces as well.
However, more than a dozen nations allow women in combat roles. Don’t they raise kids & take maternity leave? Indian armed women have been fighting long battles to create a place of respect and dignity for themselves but they are failed to gain it.
In Dec 2018, then Indian Armed forces chief General Bipin Rawat, said that “The Indian Armed Forces see women as a hindrance rather than an asset to the country. Jawans from rural areas are not used to mingling with women and therefore won’t accept or respect them” (such statement is is not suited in all respects)”. It seems like reasons rather than barriers for keeping women away from the combat zones. This just shows that Indian armed men are not well trained about how to give respect to women. If the general of the Indian armed forces would pass such comments, then what would you expect from the lower officers? There is no discipline in Indian armed forces as harassment and discrimination cases are rising on daily basis.
India has shown utter disregard and disrespect for women. Even numeral cases of sexual assaults by junior ratings against the lady officers have been reported but the offenders are supported by the officers in command and no one bothers such cases as a matter of serious concern, instead lady officers are transferred to other places or suppressed to keep silence. Large number of lady officers and doctors have resigned against such human uncertainty and atrocities.
Back in august 2019, Karunajeet Kaur, a former officer revealed that “In short, I want to say that women are recruited in the Indian armed forces offer sexual favors to their male counterparts for the entertainment.”
More than 90% of the women in armed forces suffer this problem and when they take action against this, the senior officer makes their life hell. In a nutshell, Indian armed forces failed to provide protection and facilities to women. The Indian Armed forces isn’t well equipped to welcome women in the combat zones.
